Completion of the volunteer forms is the first step towards volunteering with Waypoint:

Volunteers enable Waypoint Adventure to help youth and adults of all abilities discover their purpose, talents and strengths through the transforming power of adventure. Volunteers are a crucial component to our programs! Thank you for considering to volunteer with us!

Waypoint volunteers contribute their strengths in many ways. Volunteers help to ensure the safety and enjoyment of each participant by assisting with preparation, implementation and wrap-up of programs. Specific roles may include one-on-one assistance, facilitating games, belaying on ropes courses and rock climbing programs, taking photographs and engaging others in conversations. Volunteers may also lend their time and skills by assisting in the adaptation of outdoor equipment, speaking about our programs at conferences or helping with administrative tasks.

To enable volunteers to utilize their interests and expertise on Waypoint programs, we have developed specific criteria essential to the success of each program type. Seasonal trainings are available for volunteers wanting a review or to expand their outdoor skills. Volunteers are expected to volunteer on at least 3 programs each year. Waypoint conducts an annual review of each volunteer’s Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI).

In addition to returning these forms, you will want to review Waypoint’s Volunteer Eligibility Criteria. You are only required to meet the eligibility criteria for the program types for which you intend to volunteer.

If you meet the criteria, we would love to have you join us on a program immediately. If you are not yet able to meet said criteria, we ask you to attend a volunteer training for an introduction and/or review of these criteria. Your first program will include an introduction to Waypoint staff, review of the eligibility criteria and a chance for you to use your talents to help others enjoy the challenge of an outdoor adventure. Please consider your first program to be part interview and part service. After the program there will be time to debrief, provide feedback and ask questions.
